TCPD/PEAT Mandatory Ethics Course

The Mandatory Ethics Course has to be taken by the Trainee between Month 9 and Month 15 of the Traineeship.............

The Glasgow Bar Association wish to accomodate those who fit into this category and who would like to complete the course without having to travel on a number of occasions to complete the course.  Therefore we will be putting on the event on Friday 9th of November for a full day in the Lighthouse in Glasgow (6 Hours TCPD)

The Ethics tutorial will have an initial lecture type introduction followed by extensive interactive discussion regarding various ethical scenarios which cover the relevant core learning areas.  The trainer shall identify the principal sources of written prescription and guidance which are available in each case and explain with reference to experience from professional practice how that written guidance should be followed in day to day practice.
The needs of the trainee with be met by building on what they have learned in PEAT1 –

Generic examples will be used which will cover all of the ethical standards and principles which will achieve the PEAT2 outcomes and “the standard of the Qualifying Solicitor”

Gerry McWilliams has been a partner in Cowan & Co, Solicitors, Glasgow for some 20 years. He has tutored for many years on the topic of ethics in professional competence courses.  He has also tutored for a number of years to Post Graduate Students in the Glasgow Diploma in Legal Practice courses.  Gerry very much enjoys his tutoring and continues to hope that this enjoyment is shared by those who attend his classes

COST(6 HOURS tcpd) -  £100.00 PLUS vat
