Ken Carter, Appointed as GBA Auditor
On 1st November 2017 Ken Carter was appointed by Glasgow Bar Association as their first formally appointed GBA Auditor to provide a range of auditing and fee assessment services. He is based in Glasgow Sheriff Court (Room 1-23 beside the Solicitors waiting room) and will be available most days to help members with routine auditing and fee-ing matters and can also provide a rapid response feeing service if necessary.
Mr Carter is an Auditor of Court with 27 years of experience during which time he has provided fee – assessment services producing Auditor’s Fee Certificates for Solicitors’ private and commercial client files in over 6,000 files. He has accumulated a sound knowledge and expertise in many aspects of private and commercial work including : Executries ; property transactions; matrimonial; Minutes of Agreement; Commercial and private Leases; Court related work charged on solicitor / client basis including personal injury cases ( Sheriff and Court of Session cases ); Tribunal cases ; licensing work ; liquidations; guardianships / AWIs; Trusts; agricultural and land transactions.
The GBA Auditor’s charge rate is 4% of the sum assessed , that 4 % is calculated on the firm’s fee before VAT is applied. The usual turnaround time for fee-ing files is 1 working week ( 5 days ), or less, from receipt to return. If there is urgency for a matter a quicker turnaround time can usually be achieved.
