Persons appearing on failure to appear warrants granted in the alcohol or drugs courts will be put before the relevant sheriff the day they appear on the warrant, or if that is not practical at 9.30am the following day if the sheriff is available.
Where the sheriff who granted the warrant is sitting in a criminal court, the warrant will be called in that court at 12:45pm (and any ongoing business should be interrupted for that purpose). Where the sheriff is either sitting in a civil court or is on chambers duties the warrant will call in court 10 at 12:45pm.
The sheriff clerk’s office will make the relevant sheriff or sheriffs, COPFs, solicitors and the clerks aware of the situation as soon as possible.
Wherever practical, solicitors to be released from courts, to permit them to deal with such hearings at 12:45pm.
